Brian D. Riffe, IAAI-CFI

Mr. Riffe has spent most of his life in fire services including 29 years specifically devoted to fire investigations. During his 27 years with the Prince William and Chesterfield County Fire Departments, he served as firefighter, Technician II, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Assistant Fire Marshal, Captain and acting Battalion Chief, before retiring in 2007. From 1996 through 2020, he was a Partner, Manager, and Investigator at Fire Technology Consultants. Over his career, he has conducted thousands of fire investigations in the public and private sector. In 2021, he founded Riffe Fire Investigations, LLC, and continues to provide the highest quality investigative services while delivering prompt and accurate answers to all clients.

Brian Riffe is organized, efficient, and determined to provide quality results. As reflected in his well-written reports, he takes care to fully excavate fire scenes, document his findings and make sure crucial evidence is not missed. He goes above and beyond to conduct necessary follow-up, such as interviews, product research, and whatever is required to make sure the investigation meets the standards set forth in the most recent version of NFPA 921. He provides immediate verbal findings and often has his written report on his client’s desk within 24 hours of completing his scene examination. He enjoys sharing his knowledge of fire sciences with his clients and takes the time to answer any questions.
