Robert Rollston joined Riffe Fire Investigations in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience and knowledge. He is a retired full-time fire investigator with 45 years in public safety and law enforcement. He served 12 years with the Chesterfield County Fire Marshal’s Office as a fire investigator, 6.5 years as a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives certified accelerant detection canine handler, and 15 years as private fire investigator. He has acted as lead investigator for over 3000 structure, vehicle and wildland fires as well as explosives and environmental crime investigations. In addition, he has served as the Program Coordinator for the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy Basic Law Enforcement School and as Lead Instructor for the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy NFPA 1033 Fire and Explosion Investigator Course. He also served as a Subject Matter Expert on the Virginia Department of Fire Programs committee to review and revise the curriculum for the Virginia Fire Marshal Academy NFPA 1033 Fire and Explosion Investigator Course. During his career, Mr. Rollston held various advanced credentials such as Certified Fire Investigator through the International Association of Arson Investigators and he accrued many hours of experience as an expert witness in litigation cases.
